Paul's Top 10 of 2006

Every direction you turn at this time of year, you end up confronted with someone's list of the top events/songs/movies/sports plays from the previous 12 months, so I figured, why buck the trend? I present, in no real order, my top 10 songs from the year that was.

1. My Chemical Romance - Welcome to the Black Parade
2. Muse - Starlight
3. Snow Patrol - Set the Fire to the Third Bar
4. AFI - Miss Murder
5. The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger
6. Arctic Monkeys - Fake Tales of San Francisco
7. City & Colour - Save Your Scissors
8. She Wants Revenge - Tear You Apart
9. The Zutons - Why Won't You Give Me Your Love?
10. Tool - The Pot

I'm sure there are lots of songs that I'm missing, but those are the ones from the top of my head, after a period of Steve-like introspection, maybe I'll think of more, but this is my list, and I'm sticking to it!

Christmas Starts Here

Long time no speak, I know, I'm terrible. To be honest, I haven't had that much time to just sit and wax lyrical about anything. Work has been ridiculous, working in excess of 48 hours in 4 days, and then 30 in 2 nearly did me in, but as I sit typing, loyal reader, I am sitting in the basement of my house in Campbellville. Granted, its 8:00 in the morning, I've been up for two hours, and went to bed last night at 9:00, but let's not get bogged down in the details.

To be perfectly honest, not too much has gone on since I last wrote. At work, I seem to have become the angel of death, I've lost 4 patients in 5 weeks, essentially doubling my body count from the previous two years. How bad is that? I should start wearing a hood and carrying a scythe as I make my rounds, so no one is surprised when they drop dead. I've got six more weeks on this placement when I go back from Christmas, and then I've only got one placement left before I am a fully qualified nurse, and that scares the shit out of me. I know how to clean up shit, and I know how to take people into the shower and wash them without getting soaked, but do I really know enough to, essentially, have people's lives in my hands? Would I want me to look after myself, probably not!

Sorry for the brief update, but my jet lagged brain is incapable of pithy monologue at this early hour. I just wanted you all to know that I'm alive, and that I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you.

Here's a picture of me and the lads off of my course on our Christmas Night Out. Good times.

Also, here's my top 5 songs of the last little while, just in case anyone cares, or is keeping track:

1. Snow Patrol - Set Fire to the Third Bar
2. My Chemical Romance - Famous Last Words
3. The View - Superstar Tradesman
4. The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger
5. The Rifles - Peace & Quiet (Gavin, if you like British Indie, check out The Rifles, they're boss!)
